This is something I didn’t realize and didn’t understand until recently. I was pretty sure that loving others was a priority over loving yourself. I was wrong. When I started to study and change my mindset everything changed.
Loving yourself is an essential aspect of leading a happy and fulfilling life. It involves accepting and embracing your flaws, developing self-compassion, and cultivating a positive attitude toward yourself.
What does it mean to love oneself?
One key aspect of loving oneself is learning to embrace imperfections. No one is perfect, and it’s important to acknowledge and accept this truth. By embracing our flaws and accepting ourselves for who we are, we can build confidence and inner strength. It helps in developing an authentic sense of self that provides clarity and direction in life.
Another key aspect of self-love is developing self-compassion. Self-compassion means treating oneself with kindness, understanding, and empathy. We should aim to treat ourselves as we would treat a dear friend. It includes permitting ourselves to rest, to seek help when needed, and not being too hard on ourselves when things don’t go according to plan.

With self-love, it is easier to accept the fact that you deserve a break and time for yourself.

There’s a great common statement saying that you can’t love others until you love yourself. When you love yourself, it helps you understand yourself better and identify which relationships you want or don’t want.
5. It helps you to develop heathy habits.
Loving yourself can help you make better decisions. It can motivate you to make positive changes in your life, including eating healthy, exercising, and more.
6. It makes you be more productive.
Self-love positively affects your mindset. People with a positive mindset tend to be more productive and driven to reach their goals.

Self-love encourages you to analyze thoughts about yourself and helps you be happier and to accept and support yourself.

Loving yourself teaches you that your dreams deserve priority. Self-love also provides you with all tools to achieve your goals.

As I mentioned earlier, loving yourself helps you to love others, which can be contagious and inspire other people too.

But my personal favorite is Bob Proctor. Truth be told, I am a bit biased because I went through one of his courses “Thinking into Results”. He spends quite a bit of time discussing self-image and how it affects your mindset and thus your results. I highly recommend taking one of the classes offered by the Proctor-Gallagher Institute.
